Ryobi diversified its die cast manufacturing facilities in 1944 into fishing tackle and builders hardware amongst other products, outside its traditional car and electronics industries. Today RYOBI, DAIWA and SHIMANO are the top three fishing tackle brands in Japan. In 2000, JOHSHUYA company, the largest Japanese chain of fishing tackle, acquired the fishing tackle sector of RYOBI. Then in 2008, Ryobi International was authorized to manufacture, sell and operate RYOBI fishing tackle products worldwide (outside of Japan, by Johshuya Company.
