SafeLink R10 AIS is with you at all times
The SafeLink R10 works by sending a transmission of target survivor information including structured alert messages, GPS position information and a unique serialised identity number, back to the onboard plotter. After all the best placed responder to rescue the wearer is the Boat the person fell Overboard from.
The SafeLink R10 can transmit continuously for a minimum of 24 hours and has a 7 year battery storage life. It must be mounted directly on the LifeJacket (mounting clips supplied), prior to going to sea and is then able to be manually activated in an emergency situation.
When installed on the LifeJacket the orange safety tab should be released, this ‘arms’ the R10 ready for use. To use, inflate the lifejacket, then pull the orange tab downwards to remove the red cap from the R10. This will deploy the Antenna and automatically switch on the R10 SRS.
A unique emergency alert is transmitted to all AIS receivers and AIS enabled Chart plotters within a 4 mile radius (typical), with an AIS SAR emergency icon signaling the requirement for urgent help in a >Man Overboard situation.
Precise target survivor information including GPS position becomes viewable when the chartplotter cursor is positioned over the emergency alert icon, which provides exact location, Range and Bearing to locate person(s) in need of assistance.
If professionally fitted to a lifejacket, the R10 can become semi-automatic in operation, as the action of the LifeJacket inflating triggers the activation of the R10. If you then happen to fall Overboard, once your automatic LifeJacket has inflated, the SafeLink R10 will activate and within 10 seconds you will start being tracked.
Safety can never be taken for granted and with the SafeLink R10, you're in good hands.
